It’s hard to believe that it has already been three years since Vanguard: Saga of Heroes released to the public. I remember those days well, having played through the beta. It was a time without riftways, without the Isle of Dawn, a time when factions meant you could easily be killed if you tried to go play with your friends elsewhere in Telon.
Things have changed a lot over the last three years. We saw the implementation of riftway, and flying mounts. We've seen the level cap increase and free content added for players. Crafting has gone through a few changes, and just about every class in the game has seen changes. Dungeons have opened up, raids were added (and then tweaked). Personally, I saw the construction of my first T5 home, and it was as amazing as I thought it would be.
In celebration of this anniversary, there have been a few in-game events, as well as goodies and treats for players. You can log into game right now and head to a Historian of Telon to claim a gift package, which includes some experience potions, a pack of diplomacy cards, fireworks, a title to commemorate the event, and even a backpack with some pretty neat stats on it. Make sure you take advantage of these gifts before the NPCs are removed from game!
If you were logged in Sunday, Feb. 6, you may have also seen some anniversary parties being held on each server. The Crimson Fellowship (volunteers from SOE’s guide program) were out in full force, spreading mirth and handing out treats to those who stopped by. One of the conditions to attending was that you must like frogs, and it's easy to see why, as my entire group was transformed into the green amphibians and ported a few hundred feet into the air – only to land gently on our feet when we returned to the ground.
